We went to Gretchen's doctor this morning and the PA checked out Gretchen's wound. He was really a great guy. It was so nice to be able to speak the same language and know that we all understood what we needed to understand.
It is indeed a serious infection. He took a culture and changed her medication. We are so relieved and finally feel like Gretchen is in the hands of someone who knows what he is doing. She will go back in a week for him fo check on the progress. He will also have the culture results at that time.
So, although the decision to come home was a very hard one, we needed to be here, and we know that. And, we are so grateful to have had five weeks of an adventure that would be hard to repeat.
Who knows what will happen next, but I suspect you have not heard the last of Fristers and Blisters.
Well, next time you can pick-up where you stopped or start from the beginning of the French Way with the better signage and trails. So happy to have you both home!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bev, we are very relieved to be home.

Thanks Tonya, that is sweet. Love you too.
DeleteSo very glad that Gretchen has seen the PA and is on the "right" medication. You ladies are "down but not out" I'm SURE of that so who knows what's next for you two. One thing is for sure - you have had an amazing journey and done something that you can be super proud of. Keep us posted on Gretchen! Prayers continue........

Happy that Gretchen is getting the treatment she needs. Cutting your trip short had to be heartbreaking, but knowing that Gretchen is getting the meds she needs to heal is so important, and I know you both will have many more adventures in your future. I believe in silver linings.
ReplyDeleteHola queridas amigas y estudiantes, I am so proud of both of you. You accomplished so much. Congratulations. I know you wish you had finished the journey you planned, but often God has different plans for us. Know that you are blessed!! Gretchen get well soon.
